The School of Law of Emory University, a top tier law school in the thriving city of Atlanta, seeks an innovative and experienced leader to serve as its next Assistant Dean for Professional Development and Career Strategy. Reporting to the Dean, the Assistant Dean for Professional Development and Career Strategy serves as an integral member of the Law School's senior administration, and collaborates with the Dean and other senior leaders on strategic planning processes. The new Assistant Dean will serve as the primary liaison to the faculty and school administration and oversees all aspects of career services, including the management of existing programs, staff, and activities.
The ideal candidate will be an effective leader, natural collaborator, and skilled communicator with a strategic, decision-enabling mindset who can effectively advise and work with Emory Law leadership, faculty, students and external partners. The Assistant Dean position combines the roles of administrator, marketer, and advisor with the ability to articulate and execute a compelling vision for the office and its programs. An important component of the Assistant Dean's leadership is the ability to educate employers about the skills, abilities and experience possessed by Emory Law students and alumni, to encourage an expanding array of employers to recruit from Emory Law, to engage students in discerning their professional interests, and to aid and advise students in developing the skills and experience to achieve their professional goals. The Assistant Dean will work to establish strong relationships with other departments throughout the school as well as other schools and units within Emory University to promote the best interest of students. S/he must also understand and support external partnerships that are critical to the educational mission.
