Attorney Recruitment, Professional Legal Management
Lathrop Gage LLP, one of the nation's leading law firms, has an immediate opening for an experienced Manager of Legal Recruiting in our Kansas City, MO office. The Manager of Legal Recruiting is integrally involved in managing the firm’s recruiting programs including lateral partner and associate recruiting, on-campus interviewing, and summer associate program. This position will work directly with the practice group leaders, members of management and recruiting committee to assist in the development and execution of recruiting strategies.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Partner Recruiting: Work closely with the practice group leaders to identify and develop strategies for recruiting lateral partners, groups and/or small firms. Build and manage relationships with legal search firms to educate them on current needs and benefits. Monitor and evaluate agency relationships. Prescreen resumes and biographies, and schedule interviews. Help establish candidate strategy to ensure a seamless recruiting process. Act as liaison to specific candidates, setting expectations on all phases of recruitment process involving next steps, timing, and required documentation etc. Process conflicts checks, financial analysis and prepare candidate memorandums for partnership vote. Track all candidates in database for weekly pipeline report meeting. Work closely with the HR on-boarding team and practice group leaders to ensure a smooth integration into the firm.
• Lateral Associate Hiring: Work closely with practice group leaders to identify talent needs, and devise search strategy utilizing social media and job boards to proactively build candidate pipeline for offices and practice groups. Direct and develop necessary sourcing strategies, screening, and evaluation of candidates for specific needs. Conduct phone screens, participate in interviews and work with practice group leaders to determine and make offers to candidates, as appropriate. Provide assistance and guidance to offices and practice groups as needed.
• On-Campus Interview Program and Summer Associate Program: Work with recruiting committee, and practice group leaders, in conjunction with the goals of Diversity and Inclusion Committee to select appropriate law schools and interviewers. Identify events and sponsorship opportunities for branding purposes. Work with professional development team members on trainings and workshops. Meet annually with law school career services to build and maintain close relationships. Provide assistance and guidance to offices as needed.
• Firm wide Attorney Recruitment Management: Create and implement department recruiting budget. Create/approve recruitment advertisement as necessary. Manage recruitment policies and projects, such as referral program and applicant tracking systems. Periodically review and revise recruiting form letters, offer letters, and marketing material. Enhance attorneys’ interviewing and selling skills. Oversee NALP forms and various surveys.
4 year college degree. Masters degree or JD preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Deep understanding of the legal industry.

Must possess managerial courage to effectively deal with strong personalities and difficult situations.
Strong organizational skills and detailed oriented.
Basic understanding of employment terms and benefits, and basic accounting skills helpful.
Works collaboratively and is a team player.
Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook and Excel required. Experience with viRecruit a plus.
Manages the Recruiting and Professional Development Coordinator and the Recruiting and CLE Coordinator.
