Jenner & Block is seeking a highly motivated individual to support recruiting efforts in our New York office. Under the direction of the New York Legal Recruiting Manager, the Legal Recruiting Coordinator will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the New York office’s recruiting initiatives, including law student recruiting, lateral recruiting and the summer associate program as outlined below. The individual will also provide limited support to our firm-wide recruiting initiatives and talent development programs.
The role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with strong client service orientation, as well as excellent written and verbal communications skills. This role is a non-exempt position, based in New York.
The work schedule for this position is 9:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m. with additional hours as needed to meet operating and business needs.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-Receiving and reviewing incoming entry-level and lateral candidate resumes; coordinating aspects of entry-level and lateral hiring, scheduling interviews with candidates and attorneys.
-Coordinating OCI logistics, hospitality suites, and interview dinners, OCI receptions and offer dinners, supporting relationships with law school placement offices and coordinating student outreach activities.
-Supporting the NY summer associate program including orientation, activities, assignment tracking, supporting and attending summer associate program events.
- Collaborating firm-wide with various departments (HR, Talent Management, Diversity & Inclusion) on various projects including attorney orientation, on-boarding and firm-wide initiatives.
-Maintaining applicant tracking system and generating reports; fielding daily recruiting/legal personnel questions
-Performing other related duties as assigned.
A professional with experience in coordinating recruiting initiatives, with an understanding of a law firm or professional services environment. Demonstrates the ability to deliver a high standard of work while maintaining a customer service focus.
A four year Bachelor’s degree is required or equivalent work experience.
2 years prior experience in a law firm or professional services environment (law firm experience preferred).
Superior interpersonal, written and communication skills, and the ability to interface effectively, professionally, courteously and confidently with candidates, partners, headhunters and all levels of firm personnel and staff.
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and planning skills
Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with a team
Highly motivated, proactive self-starter with strong initiative and leadership skills
Ability to multi-task and meet competing deadlines
Attention to detail and sound business judgment
Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality
Ability to manage change effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needs
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word) and Adobe Acrobat; experience with ViDesktop/applicant tracking systems and/or SharePoint and ability to master new software programs
