Amazon’s Global Immigration Operations & Services (GIOS) Team in the HR Services organization is building a best-in-class case management program in Seattle to deliver U.S. immigration support and services to employees, candidates, and internal stakeholders across the U.S. In this role you will represent GIOS on company-wide initiatives that impact immigration including entity restructures, mergers and acquisitions, and others. In addition, you’ll be responsible for providing end-to-end immigration assistance on complex and emerging use cases, working with external counsel on case filing strategies and updates, responding to changing circumstances and needs, and providing a connected and trusted case management experience.
Responsibilities include: · Oversee and own a portfolio of legally complex U.S. immigration operational work for GIOS, including analyses and filing strategies for entity restructures, execution of M&A filing strategies, RFEs, NOIDs, MTRs, appeals, and audits · Working with external counsel and Program Owners to review, revise, and approve Amazon’s RFE, NOID, MTR, audit, and appeal responses · In partnership with a newly created Projects & Analytics team within GIOS, create tracking mechanisms and other dashboards that measure overall health of programs, such as rates of approval, denial, RFE, NOID, and successful MTR/appeals · Mentor Program Owners and Immigration Specialists as needed to manage complex queries, including escalations, assessments of immigration options · Educate internal stakeholders on status of large-scale projects, immigration operational trends, and employee/candidate experience based on service delivery and adjudications trends · Own, implement, and oversee U.S petition auditing to ensure consistency and accuracy of filings · Develop operational execution strategy based on regulatory or administrative changes · Recommend and influence change management communications to impacted employees, candidates, and internal stakeholders as a result of regulatory, adjudications or administrative changes · Identify and solve problems that may arise, sometimes with limited information, in a timely and sensitive manner; troubleshoot issues and seek to remove barriers before, during, or after an immigration assessment, case or project · Maintain system records to ensure accurate and timely information/documentation
· Bachelor’s degree from accredited university or equivalent experience · 7+ years of U.S. immigration experience, either within a law firm (such as a paralegal or attorney with responsibility for immigration petition preparation/filing) or in-house in an organization with a significant volume of immigration-supported employees or in a recruiting or HR role with heavy U.S. immigration involvement
· J.D. or Master’s degree in related field (such as HR, MBA) · 7+ years of high volume business immigration experience with heavy emphasis on cases that require heavy research, writing, and complex legal issues · Successful record of building, improving, and running operational business process globally, ability to drive program effectiveness and high levels of customer satisfaction · Experience identifying and resolving complex issues, assumes leadership roles in unfamiliar or ambiguous circumstances – solid sense of accountability and sound personal judgment · Excellent written and verbal communications - ability to interface with all levels of the organization
