Sheppard Mullin has an excellent opportunity for a full-time Recruiting and Talent Management Administrator for the Los Angeles and Century City offices.
The person will be responsible for coordinating and managing entry level and lateral recruitment programs, including the following functions:
Administration of recruiting of lateral associates and special counsel;
Administration of the recruiting of entry-level attorneys from law schools, and the firm’s ongoing relationships with certain law schools;
Management and coordination of the summer associate program;
Coordinate other talent management projects when necessary including professional development and diversity and inclusion-related activities; and
Performance of other administrative duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Recruiting and Talent Management Administrator is expected to perform all job duties with a commitment to providing superior service to Firm lawyers, lawyer candidates and law school/placement personnel, producing quality work products and maintaining and advancing an atmosphere of entrepreneurial teamwork and continuous improvement. Above all, the Recruiting and Talent Management Administrator must fulfill the needs of the office in a manner consistent with the Firm's visions and values.
Successful candidates must have a four-year college degree. Minimum 2 – 5 years prior work experience in a law firm, other professional services firm or corporate environment is strongly preferred. Prior recruiting, human resources, business development, marketing or experience strongly preferred. Experience using and exposure to web-based databases and data reporting, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite are required.
This is an exempt position; salary commensurate with experience.
Work directly with Recruiting Committee, Practice Group Leaders, and other designated partners on lateral hiring strategy. Duties include working closely with legal search firms, providing feedback on candidates, managing the callback interview process, and facilitating decision-making process and follow-up.
Manage entry level hiring (law school students and law clerks) process working closely with the Recruiting Committee. Duties include scheduling and coordinating of on-campus recruiting events and activities, including but not limited to interviews and hiring decisions.
Help formulate, administer and maintain recruiting policies, operational procedures and practices consistent with the goals and objectives of the firm, including meeting firm’s diversity hiring goals.
Oversee the management of the summer associate program, including social events, trainings, surveys, and evaluations. Work closely firm’s TM/HR team to ensure program initiatives are carried out successfully.
Screen, process and respond to all unsolicited resumes. Oversee that all inquiries regarding professional employment opportunities are responded to and follow up when necessary.
Perform other related duties as assigned pertaining to on-campus recruitment, the summer associate program, and all lateral hiring.
Lead onboarding of new attorneys and serve as a guide for attorneys to navigate the firm;
Support attorneys in their career development, providing information and guidance on the competencies and performance required to grow in the Firm;
Assist in the identification, mentoring and promotion of high potential attorneys;
Act as a steward of the firm’s culture and values to promote and build a culture of high performance;
As necessary, lead or support other national talent development initiatives.
Bachelor’s Degree in business, communications, human resources, organizational development, or related fields.
2 - 5 years of experience in Legal Recruiting preferred.
Proficiency with Word; Excel and ViRecruit.
Excellent public relations skills. Able to project a competent, positive image of the firm to the legal community, law schools and potential recruits.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Able to interact and communicate with attorneys, recruits, firm personnel, and others in a clear, concise and professional manner.
Excellent organizational skills. Able to prioritize work and design, implement and maintain efficient systems and procedures with great attention to detail.
Initiative, creativity, and self-motivation. Able to self-start and identify and attain objectives with minimal oversight and direction. Monitor the firm's recruiting practices and develop suggestions for improvement.
Team Oriented - Able to function as part of a team and be willing to help whenever and wherever necessary.
Good Judgment - Able to make sound judgments when screening resumes and responding to applicant inquiries. Discrete, tactful and trustworthy.
Works Well Under Pressure - Able to concentrate under adverse conditions and appear unflustered in the face of disaster. Must be able to meet deadlines while working with the stress of frequent changes in schedules and demands from multiple sources.
Interact positively and effectively with attorneys and other law firm personnel.
Work independently and proactively with minimal supervision.
