Summary of Position:
The Applications Manager is responsible for managing a team to monitor and perform all systems administration functions for in-house, vended, or custom solutions including addressing day-to-day runtime issues, regular upgrades/patching, backups and testing, design of new implementations, security, ensuring 24x7 high availability, reliability, and sufficient capacity for efficient day-to-day operations. In addition, the Applications Manager will assist in implementing disaster recovery and business continuity plans, and perform standard configuration, management, and maintenance tasks for related file systems, working closely with Network groups. The Manager will work in close partnership with the Network Manager and all members of the Infrastructure Operations group on a daily basis.
In addition, the Manager will work closely with business unit members to understand business requirements and ensure that application systems properly function to meet business needs, delivering value across the organization. The position will consult with Practices and others as appropriate to identify current operation procedures, clarify program objectives, evaluate business requirements and implement innovative solutions in a fast paced team. Manager is also responsible for ensuring appropriate support for Elite/Aderant software and related systems. An upgrade will be considered for the candidate with the right combination of skills and experience.

Lead teams, and/or independently develop, test, document, implement, and maintain systems infrastructure for departmental or Firm initiatives.
Troubleshoot, support and maintain all required systems. Analyze and identify time-sensitive system problems that could affect business operations
Communicate effectively to non-technical customers and sponsors.
Proactively and effectively communicate potential problems, solutions and accomplishments to management
Analyze existing processes and identify dependencies and potential break points, and recommend and implement improved technical solutions
Partner with internal customers to understand requirements in business terms and translate those requirements into technical solutions. This includes developing new capabilities and break/fix
Develop specific SDLC documentation. Ensure approval of technical solutions from IT management and key stakeholders
Write functional specifications
Continuously develop technical and professional skills
Evaluate user requests for new / modified programs
Install and test programs; monitor program performance after implementation
Applications Administration: Installation, configuration, upgrading, patching, and maintenance of Elite and other programs, modules, and related system software packages; Trouble-shooting of problems related to software performance and functionality; Coordinates with Elite related software vendors to schedule upgrades and related services; Write and support scripts to perform various reporting and administrative functions
Systems Administration: Monitoring server performance and availability for related servers; Coordination of server hardware and operating system maintenance with appropriate stakeholders; Oversight and testing of backup operations and strategy for Elite and other systems; Monitor and review system event logs to proactively manage Elite server environment
Database Administration: Write SQL language queries to support Elite and other applications as needed; Perform data analysis to facilitate identifying and resolving issues and problems; Assist with data integration and data migration activities.
Systems Analysis: Perform systems analysis to ensure that integrated systems are working properly; Work with other departments to resolve systems issues; Perform testing functions on all related systems; Assist in developing and maintaining correction and transport systems and activities; Develop test plans; Manage Change Requests; Make recommendations about system components sizing; Analyze systems performance
Business Analysis: Work with stakeholder departments to determine systems and software requirements; Develop and assist with the development of systems and software related solutions for process related problems and issues as identified by stakeholders
Project Management: Function as project lead (where needed and appropriate) and technical liaison for Elite and other related systems projects; Establish deadlines; Provide status updates; Document project information; Coordinate with other project resources and departments
Four year degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer technology, management information systems, or related fields of study or equivalent experience
6+ years of progressive experience working with Elite and Aderant software and related software and services; 3+ years as a supervisor/manager of a technical team. Individual should demonstrate the following knowledge areas, competencies, and experience;
Applications Administration: Enterprise level client/server database applications, Data integration techniques, Vendor management, Consultant engagement and management, Windows and SQL based schedules and maintenance activities, Upgrades and patches, Development and execution of test plans, Peer group involvement
Systems Administration: Correction and transport systems, Change Management process and control, Scripting in Windows, Unix, and SQL environments, Performance base-lining, monitoring, and trouble-shooting, Security and disaster recovery
Database Administration: Microsoft SQL (2008R2 preferred, 2005 minimum), SQL programming, Creation and modification of SQL functions, stored procedures, views, Data structures, SSRS Reports management, SSIS package management
Systems Analysis: Root cause analysis, Correction and transport methods
Business Analysis: Requirements specifications and capturing, Management of deliverables per request, Process engineering, Business unit interface
Project Management: Responsible as lead project manager on enterprise level project(s), Establishment of timelines, Gantt charts, predecessor/successor relationships, resource loading and management, Familiarity with Microsoft Project, SharePoint, etc., Use of one major project deployment methodology such as Scrum or ASAP

Dependability - Follows instructions, responds to management direction. Willing to commit to additional hours when necessary to reach Firm objectives
Ability to delegate, coordinate, and build productive working relationships with technical and non-technical staff.
