Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP is seeking a Chief Recruiting Officer (“CRO”) to oversee Gibson Dunn’s global recruiting efforts. At Gibson Dunn, the CRO plays a critical role in leading and supporting attorney talent acquisition. The CRO is responsible for managing over 20 staff members firm-wide. This position reports directly to Gibson Dunn’s Executive Director, and works closely with the Partner/Chair of the Hiring Committee. The CRO will interface regularly with senior Gibson Dunn management, lawyers at all levels and staff from other departments, as well as recruiting personnel at premier law schools, Summer Associates, and Lateral associate recruits. The CRO will continually create, develop and implement effective strategies and processes for all elements of the recruiting life cycle.
The CRO’s essential duties include the following:
Align recruiting strategies with Gibson Dunn’s strategic goals and work collaboratively across the entire recruiting team to set overall recruiting objectives.
Oversee and implement Gibson Dunn’s recruiting policies, procedures and initiatives.
Oversee the Summer Associate program, on-campus recruitment program, Judicial Clerk recruiting, and Lateral recruitment efforts.
Provide training and guidance in effective and appropriate recruiting and interviewing skills.
Analyze post-season recruiting results and implement strategic improvements as necessary.
Oversee the management of relationships with law school career centers and search firms.
Responsible for strategizing and implementing Diversity recruiting initiatives.
Oversee Legal Recruiting budget.
Manage, coach and develop department of over 20 staff members, as well as administer performance evaluations.
This position requires a minimum of ten years of legal recruiting experience, or five or more years of experience as a practicing attorney in a large law firm setting. Must be an independent self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail. A high degree of professionalism, and ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive issues is required. A J.D. is required.
