Responsible for implementing Milbank’s existing diversity-related initiatives and recommending additional initiatives for our lawyers, and providing leadership, organizational skills and proactive thinking towards achieving and tracking compliance with the Firm’s diversity goals under the direction of and in collaboration with the Chairs of various attorney committees, leaders of affinity groups, partners and senior administrative managers.
Implementation and management of the diversity programs and policies, working closely with Professional Development and Recruiting teams and the Chairs of committees (including evaluating the effectiveness of, and improving the quality of the existing programs and policies). Coordinate meetings and lead initiatives primarily focusing on professional development, culture and retention.
Coordinate, schedule and track internal mentoring initiatives including one-on-one mentoring and mentoring circles under the directions of/in collaboration with the Director of Professional Development.
Plan and implement diversity training under the direction of the Director of Professional Development.
Collaborate with key partners to formulate strategy for working with clients and other outside parties on diversity and inclusion initiatives. Coordinate and manage externally focused programs. Coordinate with partners to prepare talking points and toolkits for providing information to clients regarding our diversity initiatives.
Provide support to associate affinity groups in collaboration with partner liaisons and the Recruiting/Diversity Manager and partner liaisons; foster relationships with associates and partners in particular focusing on career progression.
Track and report diversity related statistics. Track and respond to various diversity related surveys. Prepare and manage diversity budget. Collaborate closely with the marketing team on a variety of issues.

A Bachelor’s degree required; a JD desirable
A minimum of five years’ related experience in a law firm.
Strong and persuasive oral and written communication skills
A passion and interest in promoting diversity initiatives.
Ability to work both independently and across local, national and global teams.
Ability to build strong and effective relationships with partners, attorneys and staff.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters with maturity.
Keen eye for detail, analytical and solid organizational skills.
Ability to supervise junior staff member(s).
