Associate Conflict Counsel
Snell & Wilmer is one of the largest and most prestigious law firms in the Western United States, with more than 400 attorneys in nine offices. The Firm is currently seeking an Associate Conflict Counsel.
The candidate for this job should have a strong knowledge of the ethical rules. The candidate must have the ability to analyze complex conflict and ethical issues and have a strong attention to detail. They must be able to work well under pressure and have a high degree of interpersonal skills. A Juris Doctorate degree is required and the candidate must have at least three years of experience as a practicing attorney.
This is a dynamic position that involves knowledge of all aspects of client operations as well as interaction with attorneys and staff in five states. Specific position responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following and are subject to change:
Review and analyze conflict report results, including gathering facts to clear conflicts.
Monitor changes, updates and developments to the ethical rules and analyze the impact the changes may have on the firm.
Work closely with Conflict Counsel, General Counsel, the Executive Committee, the Ethics Committee and Loss Prevention Counsel as necessary.
Review waiver letters, joint representation letters and engagement letters to confirm compliance with firm policies and ethical standards.
Work closely with all firm staff and attorneys to ensure compliance with firm policies and ethical standards.
Assist the recruiting department with conflict issues relating to new attorney hires.
Review and provide comments on Outside Counsel Guidelines, requests for proposal, client generated engagement letters and other documents the firm is asked to sign.
Work closely with client intake on the review of new matter submissions for compliance with firm policies and ethical standards.
Assist with the preparation of ethical walls.
Create and participate in training session for firm attorneys and staff as required.
Provide backup support for audit letters.
Review marketing materials to confirm compliance with ethical standards.
Additional duties as assigned by the firm’s General Counsel or Conflicts Counsel.
