A downtown boutique law firm seeking a Spanish speaking Legal Assistant to the Managing Partner. Not required, however preferred 1-2 years of law firm experience. College graduate preferred. Must be organized, detail-oriented, work under hard deadlines and able to execute tasks given, able to work in a fast paced environment, able to take multiple calls and work with various personalties. Punctuality is a must.
Duties include but not limited: Client contact by phone (incoming and outgoing calls) Updating and scheduling calendars Calls to clients in response to voicemail messages left for attorneys In-person client contact to relay information, status, or take payments at the request of attorneys and paralegals Extensive client contact by phone requesting payment for services rendered/to be rendered at the request of attorneys Taking credit card payments by phone, issuing receipt and sending credit card authorization form with receipt by mail/email Sending out correspondence by regular mail, certified mail, FedEx & Express Mail Checking and responding to emails received Processing of incoming mail Scheduling of clients for paralegals and associate attorneys at their request Contact with clients overseas using Skype Contact with CIS regarding clients' case status Contact with US consulates regarding scheduling of appointments for clients Interpretation for clients Translation of documents from Spanish to English Making copies of clients' files and arranging delivery for clients and other attorneys (pick up or mail) Verifying CIS addresses for application filings Reviewing applications briefly to ensure signatures and checks are attached to filings
Overview: Monday through Friday 9am - 5pm Starting salary $40k and up based upon experience
