Christie’s seeks a candidate to fill a Litigation Paralegal position on its North American legal team in our New York, NY offices at Rockefeller Center. This individual must have excellent communication and organizational skills, be a self-starter, take initiative and have the ability and desire to interact regularly with all levels of the company.
The primary function of the litigation paralegal is to assist the North American legal team and its clients with managing a diversified, high volume, litigation and disputes practice. In addition, the litigation paralegal will handle a variety of additional matters as needs arise with respect to other corporate legal affairs. The litigation paralegal will also provide administrative support to Christie's attorneys as needed.
Specific duties & responsibilities will include but are not limited to
Keep complete and up-to-date information on litigation matters, including tracking relevant dates and deadlines.
Assist with gathering and analyzing documents and data on litigation matters.
Prepare simple settlement agreements to resolve disputes.
Conduct legal research, and draft and review legal documents.
Assist company personnel with the processing of subpoenas.
Assist business clients and Christie’s clients with information requests.
Liaise with outside counsel with respect to various aspects of litigation, including the coordination of discovery.
Maintain subpoena and litigation files for the disputes team
Perform related administrative tasks (travel, expenses, calendars) where needed.
Supervise, coordinate and train legal interns in the New York office on procedures, guidelines and systems and dispute processes.
Field questions from business groups related to disputes, process, and legal language. Prepare memoranda related to internal policies and procedures as requested by counsel.
Assist members of North American legal team on various projects as needed.
Ability to take top level direction and proactively follow through with tasks independently.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including basic drafting skills.
Exceptional organization skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong sense of protocol and discretion appropriate to assist top level executives.
Results-oriented, customer-focused with an ability to perform in a performance driven culture.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
Must be highly proficient in all Microsoft applications with ability to learn and adapt to other document and database formats.
