Position Description Performs varied and complex administrative duties in the management and coordination of a large specialized project and/or program. Requires independent judgment and application of established policies and procedures. Works under general supervision with evaluation based on overall results obtained.
Major/Essential Functions
Provide paralegal services to Foundation Counsel: legal research; protection of confidential legal matters relating to the System, Components or the Texas Tech Foundation, Inc.; draft, prepare and finalize correspondence on behalf of the Foundation Counsel.
Provide support to Institutional Advancement staff and Component development professionals; provide guidance based on knowledge of established policies and procedures; use independent judgment to discern issues that can be answered directly; relay all issues that should be reviewed by legal counsel to Foundation Counsel.
Manage the IA Legal inbox independently with little oversight for day-to-day activities; utilization of knowledge of business, legal requirements and discernment to identify appropriate communication and when to notify Foundation Counsel.
Manage IA Legal projects using JIRA project management system, or other systems as may be in place. Keep Foundation Counsel informed of ongoing or potential projects.
Provide support to the Office of Gift Planning as needed, including drafting of documents, research into probate matters or other services, as needed.
Assist Foundation Counsel with management of Board of Regents meetings.
Assist with day-to-day management of IA Legal “cloud” files.
Assist with communication with Office of Attorney General and court coordinators for charitable trust modification processes.

Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in the area of specialization or closely related field. Three years of related administrative and technical experience. Additional job related education may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Some special events experience, specifically nonprofit board meetings. Knowledge of Texas laws relating to charitable gift planning, charitable contributions/taxes, real estate, and contracts; In-house or law firm experience.
Paralegal certification or eligibility to obtain certification through National Association of Legal Assistants within the year.
