Cooley is seeking a Regional Legal Talent Manager to join the legal talent function and oversee law student and attorney recruitment, as well as the integration, development and retention of all non-partner attorneys for Cooley’s San Diego and Los Angeles offices. The Regional Legal Talent Manager will be responsible for managing the full life-cycle recruitment process for law students and lateral associates and will develop and implement recruiting searches and strategies. The Regional Legal Talent Manager will manage all aspects of the summer associate program and will oversee assignments, evaluations and reviews. Duties also include overseeing attorney on-boarding and firm integration, morale and retention, as well as associate training and development. The Regional Legal Talent Manager will also be responsible for data entry, preparing the recruiting budget, and will attend recruiting and program events as needed. This position will be based in San Diego with regular travel to Los Angeles.
Candidates must have 5+ years prior experience in attorney recruiting, talent management or other human resources related discipline, previous experience with HR/recruiting software, and proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Preferred candidates will have a college degree, management experience, as well as previous experience managing a budget. Ideal candidates will be detail-oriented, organized and process driven, with the desire to take ownership of projects and responsibilities as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Candidates will also have strong time management skills, the ability to prioritize multiple tasks quickly and efficiently, excellent interpersonal, verbal (both listening and talking) and written communication skills, and a professional demeanor.
