Assistant Director, Office of Career Strategy - Georgetown University Law Center
The Assistant Director will report to the Executive Director, Career Strategy, of Office of Career Strategy (OCS). The Assistant Director will be responsible for overseeing career programming and job creation initiatives beyond traditional on-and off-campus interview programs. S/he will help with student advising, including mock interviews, geographic information, and networking. S/he will be responsible for creating programming in which employers and alumni interact regularly with students through practice area panels, networking events, mentoring programming. S/he will work closely with colleagues to design and launch programs important to the career planning, professional development and job search for students. This will include Charting Your Path for lls, Beyond OCI for 2Ls and 3Ls, How to Succeed in your Summer Job, Practice Areas and Pastries, and others. The Assistant Director will expand job creation initiatives by expanding lists of small and regional firms in specific cities around the country, cultivating relationships with employers and alumni in small firms, businesses and alternative careers through outreach.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Create programming for students focused on practice areas Design and launch career planning and job search programming, such as Charting Your Path Organize professional development programming for students
Perform outreach to employers in small firms, business, and alternative careers Network with employers and alumni to make connections for students Seek out job listing resources that expand job listings for students
Work with students on interviewing skills Advise students on networking and making connections Counsel students on opportunities in various geographic locations Advise students in career planning and job search strategies when needed
Advanced degree, such as JD, MBA or Masters in a related field (i.e. counseling)
Experience working in a law school career services office or substantial (at least two years) of related legal experience
Experience advising student s, creating and running programs, and interacting with employers
