We are currently seeking candidates for a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Specialist position located within our office in Washington, DC. The position will support the Manager of DEI, Chief Talent Officer and Chairs of the Diversity & Inclusion Initiative and Women’s Initiative. The DEI Specialist will be an integral member of the Talent Management Team, focusing on diversity initiatives.
Responsibilities will include:
Monitoring the Diversity & Inclusion budget. Tracking all expenditures, code and process all applicable check requisitions. Monitoring, recording and analyzing actual spending versus budget as check requisitions are processed. Reporting budget status and trends to Manager of DEI monthly. Reconciling discrepancies by working with Finance department and other budget owners to resolve issues.
Coordinating the implementation of diversity events, trainings and initiatives with the Manager of DEI, Chairs of the Diversity & Inclusion Initiative and Women's Initiative, (e.g., the firm’s heritage month celebrations, Mansfield Rule participation, diversity speakers, bi-annual diversity retreat, annual diversity summit, Spotlight on Leaders program, OnRamp Fellowship etc.), and assisting the Manager of DEI with executing relevant strategies, which benefit both attorneys and staff.
Coordinating the scheduling of Diversity & Inclusion and Women’s Initiative (full groups and leadership), and relevant DEI events or programming.
Participating in various internal events and meetings, and in community, law school, and client outreach efforts, on an as-needed basis.
Coordinating with vendors and consultants to implement diversity programs.
Compiling and organizing data in response to industry surveys, questionnaire and written inquiries regarding DEI, professional development, and recruiting, and in compliance with the firm’s participation in the Mansfield Rule initiative.
Providing support to Manager of DEI on various initiatives, including responding to RFP’s and other requests for data, as well as other projects supporting Diversity and Inclusion at the firm.
Tracking and analyzing internal retention and attrition trends of attorney diverse population and women lawyers.
Filing, organizing and maintaining current and historical diversity records.
Updating and maintaining various sections of the diversity & inclusion intranet and website pages (including an events calendar, leadership and membership directories, alumni directories, the language on programs and partnerships, photo galleries, etc.).
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of professional administrative experience. Bachelor’s degree and law firm experience is preferred. This position requires a candidate that has strong spreadsheet and database experience, including advanced Excel functions, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
