Cornell Law School seeks an Assistant Dean for External Education to provide administrative oversight for Cornell Law School’s international programs, executive education, and the Master of Science in Legal Studies (MSLS) degree. The Assistant Dean will be responsible for the following:
Serving as the primary point of contact for students, faculty, and partners.
Collaborating and working directly with the Faculty Director of Online Education to manage implementation of the MSLS degree, including coordinating with faculty, communicating with students, admitting students, liaising with eCornell on marketing and other activities, and coordinating intensive seminars in Ithaca or at the New York Tech campus.
Administering international dual-degree programs with foreign universities, specialized international degree programs (JD/LLM and JD/ILA), and study abroad programs for JD students.
Negotiating memoranda of understanding, exchange, and other agreements with partner institutions and prospective partner institutions around the world.
Collaborating with the Faculty Director of Professional Development to explore opportunities for executive education, and coordinate with partners on campus and eCornell to develop online learning modules.
The Assistant Dean will also collaborate with a variety of Cornell units, including eCornell, the Einaudi Center, the Office of the Vice Provost for International Relations, the Office of University Counsel, the Department of Risk Management, Cornell University Police, the Office of Global Learning, and other academic units.
The successful candidate will have a Master's degree and 5-7 years of relevant experience or equivalent. Initiative, strong leadership skills, and the ability to build and maintain relationships. Strong oral, written, organizational, communication and presentation skills. A high degree of professionalism, discretion, confidentiality, diplomacy, and excellent judgment in difficult situations. Ability to form positive relationships and collaborate with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff, as well as cultivate an inclusive environment where a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives is welcome. Strong time management skills with an ability and willingness to adjust to changing priorities on very short notice as well as the ability to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines.
Related Skills and Knowledge Desired:
JD or equivalent law degree.
Experience in academic/executive program management and development, and budget planning.
