We have an opening for a Knowledge Management & Innovation Attorney who will manage and lead the development of core legal content for our Technology Transactions Practice, including by coordination of know-how support and driving process improvement initiatives to effect innovative delivery of legal services. This individual would be an integral member of both the Knowledge Management (KM) team and the Technology Transactions Practice (TTG), working closely with other KM & Innovation Attorneys, KM Managers and collaborating with practicing attorneys to facilitate delivery of legal services to the Firm’s clients. This is a highly self-motivated and client service driven individual, who works closely with Firm leadership in aligning on knowledge management through drafting and updating of forms and exemplars and executing on strategic initiatives of the practice.
The Knowledge Management & Innovation Attorney should have extensive experience in intellectual property licensing, drafting and negotiation of commercial agreements in technology transactions including experience in some or all of the following: drafting and negotiating intellectual property licenses (including patent licenses); joint development agreements; collaboration and other strategic alliance agreements; technology licenses and services agreements (including software as a service agreements); distribution agreements, technology transfers, IP aspects of corporate transactions and counseling clients on one or more related legal issues (such as copyright law or privacy, anti-trust or other regulatory issues). The individual should also be interested in exploring legal innovation for knowledge management, striving to be a thought leader in this area. This position can be based in our Mountain View or San Francisco office.
In coordination with practice area expert attorneys: drafting form agreements, creation of processes for updating and managing standard forms, creating and collecting internal memoranda on practice legal issues and practice process checklists and identifying work product precedents (exemplar documents) in coordination with TTG leadership and subject matter experts.
In coordination with the KM Director, initiating and coordinating legal knowledge management projects, databases and systems.
Coordinate with the IT Department and other KM team members regarding content management and access systems.
Train and assist TTG members in use of the Firm’s knowledge management tools and information resources; coordinate with peers in other practice areas to exchange best practices in knowledge management resources developed by each area; and monitor/share with TTG members recent, relevant legal developments and current market practice developments and trends.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
Highly experienced in MS Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Knowledge of Inter/Intra/Extranet technologies, particularly for legal-specific uses (portals).
K?nowledge of HotDocs, ContractExpress or other document assembly applications.
Curiosity, and a desire to continually learn and grow, including regularly absorbing new information about the Firm’s legal practice, business practices and the industries and technologies of our clients.
An aptitude for learning new systems and procedures quickly.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and leadership skills.

Reporting to the Director of Legal Operations Innovation, the ideal candidate will have 8-10+ years of top tier US or international law firm experience as a Technology Transactions/IP Licensing attorney with emphasis on emerging technology company representation, including some or all of the experience described above, or a minimum 5 years law firm experience and 3+ years of in-house experience as a technology transactions attorney in a multi-lawyer technology company legal department. JD or LLB required.
