O’Melveny & Myers LLP is a global law firm with more than 800 lawyers and 500 staff in offices throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. Our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) begins as a key pillar of our business strategy and permeates our culture and values, our day-to-day operations, our work with our clients, and our engagement with the communities where we live and work or those that need our assistance. At O'Melveny, we know our commitment to DE&I is a true differentiator—a fundamental requirement of a healthy business and a key to its success. We want our firm to be a place where all people can enjoy a sense of belonging and feel empowered to contribute and grow. The diverse perspectives and experiences that our people bring to their work drive innovation and excellence. They create a vibrant and dynamic workforce that make us uniquely prepared to serve our clients. At O'Melveny, we are proud of our achievements, but diversity and inclusion is a work in progress. It always will be because our profession, our firm, our clients, and their issues keep changing. So must we. To support our work in this area, we are currently seeking a firm-wide Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Manager who will work under the supervision and direction of the Director of Diversity & Engagement. This position can reside in the Century City, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, or Washington DC office. In collaboration with Firm leadership, the DE&I team (including two Partners for DE&I), Talent Development, and other teams, this position will be responsible for conceiving, promoting, and implementing policies and programs that enhance O’Melveny’s culture of belonging and that support its strategic goals to foster, recruit, retain, and promote diverse attorneys and staff. Responsibilities: - Support the execution of Firm-wide and local DE&I plans, events, and activities.
- Advise and counsel on a myriad of diversity-related topics.
- Speak confidently with clients about O’Melveny’s DE&I efforts.
- Provide thought leadership on DE&I trends, innovation, best practices, and emerging issues and solutions. Establish, nurture, and manage relationships with peers, DE&I organizations, consultants, vendors and others who offer access to knowledge and opportunities that will help O’Melveny grow and progress.
- Develop relationships with key internal stakeholders and with our diverse attorneys and staff to identify priorities and challenges for the DE&I team to address. Recommend solutions and action items.
- Manage data and analytics related to surveys, RFPs, special programs (e.g. Diversity Lab’s Mansfield Rule), and internal and external data, including partnering with Finance and other internal functions to conduct sophisticated projections and analyses. Track the Firm’s progress through analyses of quantitative and qualitative data.
- Provide recommendations for the development of training content in support of our DE&I agenda and for impactful and topical speakers for the DE&I speaker series.
- Support law school on-campus interviewing programs and processes including managing pipeline programs, collaborating to organize on-campus outreach activities, and supporting diversity-related technology or events.
- Provide leadership to our Employee Networks and office Diversity Committees to ensure consistency, support programming and increase impact.
- Partner with our Client Development and Communications teams to build O’Melveny’s internal and external DE&I brand. Provide regular updates to the Firm about our DE&I goals, actions, and progress.
- Assist with the planning and coordination of internal and external workshops, programs and meetings, including but not limited to sponsorships, attendance, catering, audio-visual, marketing, and promotion.
- Manage the Firm's annual DE&I budget.
