JOB SUMMARY:
Troutman Pepper, a leading national law firm, has an exciting opportunity for a Manager of Lateral Partner Recruiting and Integration. This position may be based in any of the following offices: Atlanta, GA; Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; New York, NY; Orange County, CA; Philadelphia, PA; San Francisco, CA; San Diego, CA; or Washington, DC. The Manager of Lateral Partner Recruiting and Integration will have responsibility for all lateral partner and counsel hiring firm-wide. Guided by the firm’s goals, growth objectives and strategic plans, the Manager will work closely with the Director of Legal Talent Acquisition and Chief Legal Talent Officer to assess and prioritize firm-wide lateral partner and counsel hiring objectives and develop a strategy for fulfilling those needs. We are searching for someone who wants to be a valued contributor and join an innovative, talented, and dynamic team. The Manager will collaborate directly with firm Management Team members, Department Chairs, Practice Group leaders, Office Managing Partners, staff, and other stakeholders around the firm. The Manager will oversee a Lateral Partner Recruiting Specialist, so previous management experience of direct reports is preferred. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: - Work closely with the Director of Legal Talent Acquisition, Chief Legal Talent Officer, Department Chairs and Practice Group Leaders to refine and implement the firm’s lateral partner recruiting program and align partner recruiting strategies with practice group business needs.
- Manage all stages of identification, assessment, and diligence process for each lateral partner and counsel candidate/group and provide regular updates to key stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with search firms and other recruiters, leveraging their market intelligence for the benefit of the firm. Work to develop successful tactics for sourcing and contacting potential candidates independent of legal search firms. Employ best practices for a lateral partner recruiting strategy and engage both external and internal resources in the identification, evaluation, and acquisition of lateral partner candidates.
- Cultivate strong relationships with firm partners to engage them in the lateral recruiting process and leverage their knowledge of the marketplace and relationships with potential target candidates.
- Consult with Director of Legal Talent Acquisition, Chief Legal Talent Officer, and firm Diversity & Inclusion professionals to develop partner recruitment methodologies that support and advance the Firm's diversity commitment and goals.
- Lead onboarding and integration efforts for new lateral partners and counsel, working closely with other administrative departments to ensure the smooth entry into the Firm.
- Alongside Director of Legal Talent Acquisition, evaluate current partner interviewer methods and develop new trainings and best practices as needed to maintain best in class interview experience for candidates.
- Monitor current trends and innovations in lateral partner recruiting strategies and practices, develop corresponding responses, and work in conjunction with Director of Legal Talent Acquisition to implement new methodologies, programs, and practices.
- Consult with internal branding and marketing professionals to create effective marketing materials to support the firm's lateral partner recruiting objectives.
- Work with the firm’s business intelligence team to conduct market research and obtain competitive intelligence in order to proactively build candidate pipeline in support of lateral hiring priorities and strategic growth plan.
- Evaluate, develop and implement tools for analyzing and measuring the success of current and historical recruitment and integration efforts within the firm across regions and practice groups; regularly report on successes and areas for improvement, including the subsequent performance of lateral partners.
