The California Department of Social Services' Legal Division is recruiting for a full time Attorney III position within its Information, Technology and Administrative Litigation (ITAL) Branch. The position may be filled at the Attorney level.
Under the direction of the Senior Assistant Chief Counsel or Assistant Chief Counsel, the Attorney III or Attorney will perform the more sensitive and complex legal work including assignments involving high degree of difficulty. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in independently providing house counsel or governmental representation and be knowledgeable in at least some of the following areas: state and federal procurement and contracting laws and policies; grant applications and agreement development; interpretation of varying sources of laws and requirements for specialized services contracts such as the California Government Code, Public Contract Code, State Administrative Manual, State Contracting Manual, and control agency directives; information technology procurements both large and small, and privacy, confidentiality and data sharing. Experience acting as a lead or mentor is desired but not required. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent analytical abilities, will be detail-oriented, self-motivated, possess strong interpersonal communication skills, and able to gain both the trust and support of management and staff at all levels.
