The Director of IT Operations primary responsibility is to oversee the streamlined operations of the IT department and to ensure it aligns with the business objectives of the organization. The Director of IT Operations will assist the CIO to plan, coordinate, direct, and design all operational activities of the IT department, as well as provide direction and support for IT solutions that enhance the mission-critical business operations.
The Director of IT Operations will work closely with the CIO to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support technology solutions for all aspects of the organization. The Director will assist with strategic planning and implementation of enterprise technology systems. He/she will support business operations in order to improve cost effectiveness, service quality, and business development. This individual is responsible for managing the daily operations of the organization’s information technology and systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential functions are primarily job duties that the director must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation made by the employer.
• Manages the IT department’s operational strategic planning and project planning. • Manages IT team, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development and evaluation actions. • Benchmarks, analyzes, reports on, and makes recommendations for the improvement of the IT infrastructure and IT systems. • Assist CIO with research on potential technology solutions and implementations in support of new initiatives, opportunities, and procurement efforts. • Develops and implements IT procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, and service provisions. • Assist with the design implementation, testing, and maintenance of the Firm’s IT Disaster Recovery Plan. • Effectively applies troubleshooting and problem solving skills to various hardware, software and network problems in a timely manner. • Communicates effectively (able to clearly express ideas/opinions, uses appropriate and effective communication methods, interacts with staff and clients openly and honestly, and is receptive and attentive to communication/feedback from staff and clients). • Demonstrates organizational skills and effective use of time (ability to plan daily work, set priorities and manage time, ensuring work is completed timely and efficiently)
• Remains involved in the day-to-day management and support of the network and desktop infrastructure.
• Ensure continuous delivery of IT services. • Establish lines of control for current and proposed information systems. • Keep current with trends and issues in the IT industry. • Supervise recruitment, development, retention, and organization of IT staff in accordance with Firm budgetary objectives and personnel policies.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: • Bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science, information systems or applicable business degree and seven years related work experience. • Minimum of 7 years of experience working in the legal industry preferred. • Seven years of experience managing and/or directing an IT department. • Extensive knowledge and experience with the following technologies: • Microsoft Azure • Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2019 • Microsoft Exchange Online • Microsoft SQL Server 2016/2019 • VMWare Virtualization Technologies (ESXi and VCenter Servers) • Cisco Technologies • Storage Area Networks ( SAN ) Technologies • Microsoft Technologies • Cloud Technologies • IT Infrastructure best practices • IT Operations best practices • Experience in strategic planning and execution. • Proven experience in IT infrastructure strategic planning and development, project management, and policy development. • Substantial exposure to data processing, hardware platforms, enterprise software applications, and outsourced systems. • Good understanding of computer systems characteristics, features, and integration capabilities. • Experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through day-to-day management. • Proven experience in technology planning, organization, and development. • Excellent understanding of project management principles. • Demonstrated ability to apply technology in solving business problems. • Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures. • Proven leadership ability. • Ability to set and manage priorities judiciously. • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • Excellent interpersonal skills. • Strong negotiating skills. • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language. • Exceptionally self-motivated and directed. • Superior analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities. • Ability to motivate in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
