The Recruiting Manager plays a critical role for the Washington, D.C. (D.C.) office and the firm in supporting attorney talent acquisition. The focus will be on-campus recruiting at premier law schools, our annual summer associate program, judicial clerk and lateral attorney recruiting, and the onboarding of new lawyers. In this capacity, the Recruiting Manager works closely with the D.C. Hiring Partner and the Gibson Dunn Chief Recruiting Officer as well as with other Gibson Dunn staff departments (Human Resources, Professional Development), and attorneys on various committees. The Recruiting Manager is an active member of the Gibson Dunn D.C. Diversity Committee and assists with firm wide diversity initiatives and events. The Washington, D.C. Recruiting Manager will report to the firm wide Chief Recruiting Officer and manage the legal recruitment efforts of the office.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Oversee, direct, and execute on-campus recruitment programs, including overseeing all recruiting efforts at office’s assigned target law schools and coordinating D.C. interviewing teams at other schools;
Plan and execute annual summer associate program, working with D.C. Hiring Partner(s), D.C. partners-in-charge (PICs), and each year’s associate summer coordinators;
Oversee, direct, and execute judicial clerk recruiting and hiring for the D.C. office;
Oversee, direct, and execute lateral associate and of counsel recruiting and hiring efforts for the D.C. office;
Manage D.C. Recruiting staff, including D.C. Recruiting Coordinator and D.C. Recruiting Assistant or Senior Assistant;
Maintain good relationships with law school career centers and legal search firms;
Prepare annual departmental budget and track expenses;
Provide support to Diversity Committee initiatives;
Generate or oversee generation of regular and ad hoc reports relating to statistics on D.C.-office recruiting efforts;
Liase with Human Resources department, Professional Development department, and D.C. Office Administrator on new hire orientation and integration efforts;
Communicate regularly with D.C. Hiring and Diversity Committee members, Chief Recruiting Officer, and U.S. Recruiting team;
Attend the annual Hiring Committee Spring Meeting;
Attend Washington Legal Recruiting Administrators Association meetings and events.
Candidates must be able to work in a fast-paced, professional environment and as part of a team. Proficiency in the use of computer programs including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required. Must consistently display good judgment and maintain confidence of personal and sensitive information.
This position requires a minimum of five years legal recruiting experience and a Bachelor of Science or Arts degree.
