Position Summary
Reed Smith has an opportunity for a Legal Recruiting Specialist to work with our Legal Recruiting team in our New York office. You will be part of a dynamic and collaborative team dedicated to providing support to our various Legal Recruiting initiatives and will work closely with our New York Legal Recruiting Manager. Recruiting duties include, but are not limited to, coordination of the law student recruitment process and summer associate program, new associate orientation and integration, and assistance with the recruitment of lateral attorneys for the New York market.

Essential Functions
Legal Recruiting
Assist with the summer program; plan summer events and trainings, correspond with incoming summer associates, organize logistical aspects of orientation.
Assist with the on-campus/recruiting season. Create interview schedules, travel arrangements, pre-arrival information, arrival packages, and follow up with all candidates.
Assist with the registration process for on-campus interviews (OCI) for all regional law schools and select Firmwide schools.
Track resumes, generates offer/rejection letters and create status reports using viRecruit.
Update and maintain viRecruit database and applicant files.
Understand Firm systems, policies and procedures and future goals in order to troubleshoot questions, problems or concerns.
Point of contact for incoming fall associate class, track related expenses and prepare for arrival.
Work closely with other service departments (Payroll, Benefits, RSU and IT) and other HR personnel in other offices.
Other Firmwide special projects as assigned.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a professional discipline required.
Experience: Law firm experience is preferred. Should have a demonstrated understanding of current market trends and philosophies.
Skills: Requires strong organizational skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, good judgment, a professional demeanor and the ability to provide an excellent first impression of the Firm. Must work well with all levels of Firm personnel, establish effective working relationships throughout the Firm and react to difficult situations appropriately. Confidentiality is essential. Must be highly motivated, creative, flexible, adaptable to change and results-oriented. Must have strong knowledge of MS Offices products, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Equipment To Be Used: Personal computer and other office equipment such as telephone, calculator, fax, machine, copier, scanner, etc.
Typical Physical Demands: Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching. May require lifting up to 20 lbs. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators and telephone.
Typical Mental Demands: Able to deal with stress associated with fast-paced work environment. Multiple priorities/tasks. Make judgment decisions and adapt to changing work situations. Quickly grasp and apply new ideas. Communicate professionally and effectively with various personalities at all levels.
Working Conditions: Works in a typical offices setting. May be called upon to work hours in excess of 40 in a given work week.
