The Director of Immigration & Licensing is responsible for managing and strategically leading those who support Health Carousel International in the preparation, submission, and management of immigration filings for employment-based visas, as well as those who obtain the necessary licensures for international healthcare professionals intended to work in the United States.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead teams of Legal Assistants, Licensure Specialists, and Credentialing team members
Remain current on immigration topics, trends, and laws/regulations that impact the placement of Nurses, Medical Technologists, and Physical Therapists on an immigrant visa.
Maintain a thorough working knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local government, accrediting agency, and client-specific contractual requirements/laws including OSHA and visa regulations
Master details of application requirements (including occupation requirements/descriptions, supporting documentation, English Proficiency Requirements, USCIS Forms Required, Filing Fees, Immigration Process, etc.)
Ensure immigration process steps and timelines are followed. When required, design work plans and case follow to ensure international healthcare professional and their family arrive in the United States compliant with US law.
Responsible for successfully responding to or assisting outside counsel in responding to RFEs/NOIDs and resolving any other visa issuance problems (e.g. visitor visa issuance challenges, embassy changes, changes to status, additions to petition, etc)
Review prepared immigrant petitions (involving H-1B, TN, EB-2, EB-3) files and packets to ensure completeness, compliance with visa rules, and alignment with organizational goals
Assist in facilitating any additional immigration needs with outside counsel (i.e, AOS for working HCPs, family-based petitions for working HCPs, advice on complex legal matters, etc.)
Manage H-1B cap, amendment or extension process on assigned cases
Maintain timely filings of Prevailing Wage Determinations, postings for Schedule A cases, PERM Process, and LCA postings.
Conduct legal research and compile data as needed
Track, maintain, and manage visa expirations and renewals to ensure that timely renewals are filed
Maintain company systems (CRM, work plans, spreadsheets, etc)
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Juris Doctor Degree preferred
Passed U.S. State Bar Examination
Strong proficiency with typical business technology
Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written
Preferred experience in the US Business Immigration field, specifically healthcare/Schedule A
Strong attention to detail and proofreading/editing skills
Energetic, highly motivated, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
Organized and able to efficiently handle multiple tasks
Demonstrate the ability to work well and effectively with others
Requires international travel approximately 2-3 times a year
