HL Learn provides professional development programming for the firm’s attorneys and business services personnel. The Learning and Development Manager will support the department to implement this comprehensive training by managing multi-day programming, event planning and on-site support. These programs focus on professional skills, not practice group specific legal skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement various learning initiatives and programs, and assist in the implementation of the learning and development strategy to meet attorney development
Work with department directors, partners, counsel and associates to design, update and roll-out curriculum, workshops and initiatives
Manage project timelines, deliverables and all logistics associate with delivering training and development programs and initiatives, including production of all program materials
Primary event planner and on-the-ground support for associate multi-day intensives (DC office)
Manage on the ground event planning for all attorney in-person programming offered by the department (DC office)
Manage planning and rollout of webinar and local office programs, such as writing, oral communications, negotiation skills
Work with internal and external faculty to deliver programming
Liaise and collaborate with stakeholders and other department functions around program design, logistics and attendance
Strengthen, streamline and improve programming based on participant and stakeholder feedback
Conduct in person DC office lateral orientation for new attorneys
Contribute to development of e-learning and technology-enhanced learning projects. Produce professional development resources as part of learning events
Manage learning and development coordinator(s)
Write communications for programming and other initiatives, including department newsletter (done every two months)
Manage annual and periodic strategic departmental communications and brochures
All other duties as may be assigned
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED SKILLS
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and also take initiative
Strong writing and editing skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Enthusiasm and desire to pursue a career in learning and development
Ability to preserve confidentiality and exercise discretion
Ability to travel to other offices as needed
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE
A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional services event planning and project management or event planning experience required
Experience working independently as well as within cross-functional teams in a collaborative, professional environment
HOURS
Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Flexibility to work additional hours and adjust hours to meet requirements within a global firm is required.
