The job position will provide legal advice and representation for CMHA on various legal matters, including contracts, personnel issues, liability claims, and litigation (e.g., eviction proceedings). It involves advising staff, representing the agency in court, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws.
Key Responsibilities:
Represent CMHA in eviction and small claims cases.
Advise staff on legal issues related to contracts, personnel, and liability.
Stay updated on legal developments and provide guidance.
Manage real property legal matters (e.g., acquisitions, leasing).
Collaborate with outside counsel.
Ensure CMHA contracts meet legal standards.
Support eviction prevention initiatives.
Provide legal training to staff.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor degree, licensed in Ohio.
Minimum 2 years of litigation experience.
Strong knowledge of public housing laws and regulations.
Excellent communication, organizational, and negotiation skills.

The Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority was established in December of 1933 under the provisions of the Ohio Housing Authority Law and is an asset to Hamilton County. For more than 80 years the agency has provided quality, affordable rental housing opportunities for individuals and families throughout the county. The agency operates or administers three separate programs. Asset Management consists of 4700 units owned and managed by CMHA. The Housing Choice Voucher can administer Housing Assistance Payments for over 11,600 households. The agency also operates 274 units of other affordable rental housing. CMHA has established a Gold Performance Standard to ensure that the resources CMHA provides are meeting the needs of the residents of Hamilton County.
