We are seeking an Assistant District Attorney to join our team. With Yates, you will have a manageable caseload and work in the picturesque setting of the Finger Lakes, just minutes from fishing spots, biking trails, and wineries. We are only a short drive from Rochester, Syracuse, and Buffalo.
We are a small office of drama-free, honest prosecutors who work hard and have fun. We care about our community and are passionate about what we do. We are a close-knit group that supports one another, encourages growth, and recognizes there is life outside of work. Attorneys have the option to work a 4-day week so every weekend is a 3-day weekend. We know that the hours of an ADA are not always 9-5 so attorneys are permitted to flex there time based on the hours their Court’s meet.
We also understand discovery laws are burdensome, but at our office, we have developed a process that tremendously reduces the time spent on compliance so you can focus on your cases. In Yates, you will not be stuck in a bureau prosecuting the same types of cases over and over. Instead, you will have diverse case assignments and opportunities for trials!
The position's responsibilities include felony prosecution, local court appearances and practice, grand jury presentations, motion practice, hearings, trials, discovery compliance, County Court appearances, and Drug Court. The office relies heavily on a Digital Evidence Management System and offers one-on-one and web-based training.
Yates County has adopted a tiered salary system, offering a competitive salary commensurate with experience starting at $91,528! Additional compensation is provided for on call rotations covering our centralized arraignment part of up $12,000 per year. Full time benefits include NYS retirement, health insurance, dental and vision.
